Medicine for the people!
Acupuncturist Sang Ly Montage’s new alternative gift-economy practice is now operating throughout Southern Oregon (including the Applegate Valley, Jacksonville, Medford, Grants Pass, Williams and elsewhere in Jackson & Josephine Counties). This practice is unique from most acupuncture practices in two main ways:
- Gift Economy: no set price – you pay what you believe the treatment is worth.
- House Calls! Acupuncture and Traditional Asian Medicine in the comfort of your own home.
Why Gorilla Acupuncture? Why gift economy? Why House Calls?
In her former acupuncture practice Montage Oriental Medicine (Corvallis, OR) Sang was frustrated by the fact that so many people did not have access to good alternative healthcare. She wanted to do something that would make alternative therapies available to those whose insurance had lapsed as well as to those who thought they would never be able to afford it.
Sang feels it is important to ensure that all people, regardless of socioeconomic status, have the same access to good preventative healthcare. This includes those who for whatever reason are unlikely to go to a clinic for treatment but are willing to have it in the comfort of their own home.
The Gorilla Model is a holistic approach not only to healthcare but also to healthcare delivery. The Gorilla aims to assist not just individuals but also local communities giving them a way to engage and participate in their own natural healing process. The vision is to develop a practice that will enliven and enrich everyone.

Testimonials
“After three treatments my headaches are virtually gone and on top of it, I can actually take a deep breath. I wasn’t even aware that I wasn’t taking a deep breath all these years!”

“I don’t know what you did but that last treatment made my well-being feel well. Thank you.”

“Last time I was here for a relaxation treatment, I went home and slept for five hours and it felt like I was wrapped up in a cocoon of love.”
S.B. Corvallis, OR
“I began receiving treatment from Sang in October 2008 for back pain. I had never been to an acupuncturist. The next month I found out my husband and I were expecting our first baby. Sang continued treatment for both back pain and prenatal care. She took great care of both me and baby. Treatments were so relaxing and I always looked forward to them. I saw her nearly ever week. During one of my 8 month prenatal visits my OB/GYN commented “You are the only patient I have seen today who hasn’t complained about back pain and certainly has every right to!” Not once during my pregnancy did I experience any significant back pain. I thank Sang for that 100%! Towards the end of my pregnancy, I decided to switch from my OB/GYN to a certified nurse midwife. I would have never thought of doing this before receiving treatment from Sang. I began to appreciate more and more the natural approach to medicine and knew my body could deliver this baby without hospital medication. I could go on and on about my love for Sang’s treatment, but I’ll just end by saying that thanks to Sang, I had a 3 hour labor. I did not feel any contractions until I was dilated to a 7 and my water broke. From the time my water broke, my baby entered safely into this world in 35 minutes! Without Sang’s help, I really don’t think my pregnancy or labor and delivery would have been so easy, and I can guarantee I would have had extreme back pain throughout the whole thing. Thanks Sang!!”

“The treatment I received from Sang was profoundly relaxing and balancing and helped my gall bladder and kidney/bladder problems. Her skill level with the needles is fantastic. She is gentle, works with the breath and is very sensitive. I felt safe, warm, nurtured and relaxed during the treatments. She is very friendly, explains the treatments well, and is accessible during the entire treatment. I had received other acupuncture treatments but never felt they facilitated my healing as well.”
J.M. Corvallis, OR
“When the treatment was over, my lower back pain was very minimal and the range of motion in my knee was around 90 –95% improved.”
